What Makes a Master Retreat

Give your master bedroom the royal treatment by elevating the space from a simple place to sleep. Today’s master suite is a plush and comfortable space that for some is even a self-contained living area! Add pieces that have special meaning and reflect your personal style, and introduce textures and finishes that bring you added comfort. The goal is to design a space that is your personal escape, your safe haven at the end of a busy day – a retreat.

Start by keeping the space fresh and organized. Choose a theme or style for the room that belongs only to you. In our example – an escape to Paris!

We introduced some no fuss accents lamps with crystal bases and clean drum shades.   A velvet curved headboard complemented by art deco night stands, jewelled and metallic finishes pop against a simple map of Paris above the bed. Pillows add luxury to the room and the king size bed with faux fur blanket creates a look you’d expect to see in a swanky hotel room.  In the summertime, we could replace the fur with a Turkish blanket to lighten the space. And overhead, a statement light fixture draws you in.

Master Retreat EnsuiteNo one else is visiting your ensuite bathroom, so take the time to make it a special place that’s uniquely yours.  Floor tiles continue to get larger and larger and it’s perfectly on trend. Oversized porcelain tiles steal the spotlight in this bathroom with the look of Carrera marble. It flows from the floor into the shower and up the walls for maximum impact.  Double sinks are a must for many, and functional storage is a priority. Don’t forget to dress the room! A bathroom can still have artwork and accent furnishings.  Crystal and soft golds are brought in from the bedroom to tie the spaces together.

Now this is comfort.
