Sifton welcomes local architects home

March 14, London, ON – The seventh floor of 200 Queens Avenue has a new look and a new tenant the architectural firm that designed the building. Sifton Properties Limited recently welcomed home architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson to the building designed by the firm’s predecessor, Peter Tillmann, almost 60 years ago.

“Sifton worked with architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson through their complete redesign of the entire seventh floor to create an office for the firm’s 29 employees. The open concept space and abundant natural light is ideal for the type of work architects perform.

“We are very excited to welcome architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson back to the building they designed,” said Mike Riffel, Vice President of Commercial Properties at Sifton. “Their new office maximizes the use of natural light and capitalizes on the views. We are very impressed with their final design and thoroughly enjoyed working with them to achieve their vision.”

Architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson is part of a recent trend with many London businesses to move their offices to the downtown core. More and more companies are moving into office space downtown because of the opportunities it provides for business as well as for the convenience it provides for employees.

“With companies like architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson moving their offices to the core, this is a very exciting time to be downtown,” said Jeanette MacDonald, Executive Director of Downtown London. “Companies are bringing their offices downtown and their employees are becoming the customers of downtown shops, cafes and restaurants. This is a trend we welcome.”

Architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson, which for the past 42 years had their offices located in a home in Old North, looked to Sifton Commercial Properties because of their great locations, well-kept buildings and tenant amenities.

“After operating out of a building that we owned, it was a significant change to become a tenant. From the start Sifton gave us every indication that they were a landlord that we could work with, and they have not disappointed us,” says Tom Tillmann, Principal at architects Tillmann Ruth Robinson.

The building stands on the northwest corner of Queens Avenue and Clarence Street and maintains the original aluminum panelled exterior, a unique design element of the era.
