Earlier this month to commemorate indigenous culture we learned about four great artists. To honoured them and their work we transferred prints onto tote bags that the residents can wear proudly on their walkers and shoulders.

The artists are:
Daphne Odjig
Mark Anthony Jacobson
Brent Hardisty
Christi Belcourt

Please make sure to check out their work and explore the work of other indigenous artists.

Today is the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. A day to reflect on a painful part of Canadian history and hope for a brighter future. What can you do?

1. Wear Orange - One of the most visible ways to show support. Be sure to read the story of Phyllis (Jack) Webstad.
2. Participate in an Event - Research what’s happening in your area and immerse yourself in opportunities to form community connection.
3. Educate Yourself – Take some time to learn, reflect and share with family, friends and children.
4. Support Arts & Media - Support the work of Indigenous artisans, authors and film makers.
5. Be Considerate - Today and every day, be kind and show consideration to Indigenous communities who are hurting as they reflect on their history.

Happy National Drink Beer Day! 🍻

This afternoon we had a mystery beer sampling social where residents had to guess the flavour notes they tasted and rank the beer from a scale of 1-10. Everyone tried something new as we sampled craft beer from Ontario breweries.

Ever had Peacan Pie Porter.. No? How about a Raspberry Sour? Both were up and on the menu for tasting today!

The event was even more special as we got to celebrate June’s 90th birthday together 🎉
