Congratulations! You’ve opened a brand-new space at West 5. What drew you and your tutoring business to open your location in this exciting west London community?
“West 5 is likely the most vibrant and progressive community in London, if not the province! We saw a tremendous opportunity to provide a much needed service – tutoring and skill building in Math and Reading within a community that is very aware of the struggles that students are facing.”
Custom space design and building can be quite an experience. Can you describe your experience in designing your new business here?
“It felt like a Property Brothers experience! As a retired school administrator, design and building was very much out of my competency zone! The team was professional, supportive, and very attentive to the unique design needs that we presented. Kumon’s footprint is not a typical retail space configuration, but now that I’ve moved in and started operations, I almost can’t believe how perfect this space is.”
How do you feel your experience in the tutoring business will add value to West 5? How do you feel it will help you grow into a community partner?
“I believe this will be a valuable community resource. All parents want their children to do well, and Kumon’s tutoring method will definitely support that. There are also significant intangibles that are positive outcomes for our students – the development of work skills and the ability to focus and derive satisfaction from their achievements. We also have plans to support our students – and the community – by bringing in guest speakers. For instance, a close friend of our is very involved in the movement to encourage girls to become involved in STEM. We’ll be inviting her to speak to our students.”
